Mounting a mirror on a door leaf of our choice is an extremely easy and inexpensive process. All we need to do is select a glass pane that matches the design and size of the door. However, it is worth paying attention to the weight of the mirror – if it is too heavy, it may fall off the surface of the sliding door. Many companies offer mirrors made to a specific size – thanks to that we can be sure that the elements match perfectly. Before starting the work, we need to get the right materials. Depending on what we want to stick the mirror with, we can choose the right adhesive or special tapes with an adhesive layer. Be sure to get a special cloth or a product for degreasing the top layer of the door leaf. We will also need a pencil and a tape measure to measure specific distances in case the mirror does not cover the entire surface of the door. We start the whole process by removing the door and wiping its surface in order to get rid of dirt. Then we mark the centre of the door with a tape measure and measure the distance to the side edges. Now we can start applying a layer of adhesive or tapes to the pane. Tapes are applied at a distance of about 20 cm from each other, unless the mirror is really heavy – then it is worth reducing the distance to 10 cm. We apply the adhesive in vertical strips, maintaining a distance of 5 cm from the edge of the mirror. We must remember that throughout the whole process the mirror should be in a horizontal position, so that the adhesive does not run off during application. The final step is to stick the element to the sliding door and wait a day or two for the adhesive to cure. We should remember not to cut off the oxygen supply and not to seal the edges of the mirror immediately, for example with silicone. Once the adhesive has dried, the door can be reinstalled, and we can enjoy an aesthetically pleasing and fashionable element in the interior.
