Muted greens, browns, beiges and delicate greys – earth tones are the perfect solution for people who value calm, harmonious interiors. Thanks to the fact that they blend in very well with other natural materials, they will be a good solution both in classic arrangements, as well as those in the Scandinavian or industrial style.
They are subdued, calm and neutral. They will match not only all kinds of styles, but also virtually all rooms – from a bedroom and living room to kitchen. They perfectly meet the needs to take a break from the daily chaos of big cities, mentally transporting us to the bosom of nature.
Natural materials
Earth tones bring to mind rock peaks, forested hills and sunny wheat fields. Hence, in order to maintain these soothing associations, it is worth combining them with natural materials such as stone, brick or wood – the latter is best in the version with a visible grain pattern. In this case, we do not have to worry about exaggeration and limit ourselves to accessories only – earth tones will feel good in the company of a brick wall or oak floor. In this respect, the Classen offer is rich in many models of panels, which with their texture and tone perfectly resemble real wood.
In green company
Closeness to nature is also worth emphasizing by introducing live plants to our apartment. Species associated with forests, such as ferns and ivy, will perfectly match the earth tones. If, on the other hand, we do not feel well as a plant owner, we can try decorations made of moss – on a macro scale, even an entire wall can be decorated with it.
This style of our interior can also be complemented with decorations with delicate plant prints – and if we want to maintain the calm character of the interior, we should choose those associated with a meadow and forest rather than with an exotic island. An interesting decoration can be a wall gallery with elements referring in their style to old herbariums or pages from nature atlases. You can easily make such a decoration yourself – just dry some flowers you have collected yourself and put them in a frame, preferably together with stylish cards with handwritten descriptions of individual plants.
More warmth
If the earth tones themselves seem too dim, you can liven them up a bit with a drop of colour. It can be brought to the interior, for example, using a couch or armchair in the shade of ochre or bottle green – preferably in combination with a soft velvet upholstery. The timeless duo of black and white should do the job. The former will brighten up and warm the space, while the latter will give the interior a more expressive character. An interesting complement will also be accessories in shades of copper and dirty gold.
To such a combination, it is worth adding soft textiles with fleshy textures, such as pillows with woollen braids or a fluffy carpet and provide atmospheric lighting. It is really difficult to argue with the fact that the earth tones seem like a perfect background for a stone fireplace, but if we cannot afford such a solution, we can always enjoy the glow and warmth of candles.
